Templar Route

The Serra da Gardunha is often referred to as the most telluric of Portuguese mountains.

Starting from our Capelinha da Quinta, the Templar "Door" at the east of Gardunha, come and discover the Templar presence in Beira-Baixa, from Vila Velha de Ródão and the Rio Tejo, which connects us to the Castelo de Almourol, passing through Castelo Branco, Idanha-a-Velha, Penha Garcia, Penamacor.

There are several castles and legacies, usually located in unique natural settings, whose magical environment takes us directly to the origins of Portugal.

Jewish Routes

The territory of Beira Interior has always been peripheral in relation to Lisbon and Porto. During the time of the Inquisition, the interior was an advantage for many Jewish communities who settled here, escaping persecution and preserving their habits and traditions.

Among several lands, such as Castelo Branco and Covilhã, which maintain the memory of the medieval Jewish houses, Belmonte stands out as the last Crypto-Jewish community of this part of Europe.

Come and discover with us this fascinating story of Jewish culture in our Beira.

The European Cheese Route

The European Cheese Route "was created with the aim of creating a European network of tourist destinations based on the world of cheese" and it passes right by our doorstep!

Take advantage of your stay at Quinta da Porta to get to know the best cheeses of our region: from Picante, also known as "queimoso", to Castelo Branco cheese, to Soalheira, to Amarelo, or the simplest sheep or goat cheeses.
